PRE-PLANNING
GUIDE
Funerals in Queensland have changed over the years. They are far more personalised to celebrate the life of the person who has died. Be it a burial, cremation or memorial service in the Brisbane or surrounding area, you can be sure Anton Brown Funerals can make your service memorable.
Below we have listed our basic services, as well as some added extras that that our Funeral Directors can assist you with in making your funeral service memorable. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about any of the options offered here, or other requests you may have.
| Cremation Services | |
| Chapel Service and Cremation | This is a service that is held in one of the
many Crematorium Chapels in Brisbane. These can be either
a religious service with a Priest or a non-religious service
using a Funeral Celebrant. You may even have a member of the
family or a friend conduct the service. These services are
normally around 30 minutes long, although if you need a longer
time for the service a double booking can be made. The cremation
then occurs after everyone has left the chapel. Many of the
crematoriums have a condolence lounge so that family and friends
can get together for a coffee and chat after the service. |
| Church Service and Cremation | If you desire a religious funeral service, then you may
have a service in your church, or a church in your area.
This would be conducted by the Parish Priest. On completion
of the funeral service at the church, the hearse would then
leave for the crematorium. It is usual these days for the
family not to follow the hearse to the Crematorium but to
stay at the church with family and friends for refreshements,
or go home. |
| Non Attended Cremation | Some families do not want a full funeral service
so we offer a non attended cremation service. After talking
with the family and completing the necessary paperwork we
take the deceased person to the crematorium. Many families
then hold a memorial service when they place the ashes at
their final resting place. |
| Burial Services | |
| Chapel Service and Burial | This is a service that is held in one of the
many Cemetery Chapels in Brisbane. These can be either a religious
service with a Priest or a non-religious service using a Funeral
Celebrant. You may even have a member of the family or a friend
conduct the service. These services are normally around 30
minutes long, although if you need a longer time for the service
a double booking can be made. On completion of the service
in the chapel everyone moves to the graveside, usually in
the same cemetery, for the final commital. Some of the cemeteries
have a condolence lounge so that family and friends can get
together for a coffee and chat after the service. |
| Church Service and Burial | If you desire a religious funeral
service, then you may have a service in your church, or a
church in your area. This would be conducted by the Parish
Priest. On completion of the funeral service at the church,
the hearse would then leave for the crematorium. The funeral
cortege would then make its way to the cemetery for burial.
Once at the graveside the commital and burial would occur. |
| Graveside Service | A graveside service can be conducted where a service in a church or chapel is not required. Everyone gathers at the graveside and the service occurs there. We can provide a CD player for music and a PA system for larger services if required. |
| Non Attended Burial | As with the non attended cremation, after meeting
with the family and completing the necessary paperwork we
take the coffin to the cemetery for burial. The family need
to liase with the cemetery to arrange monuments or plaques. |
| Extra Services | |
| Catering | Many of the Cemeteries and Crematoriums now
have condolence rooms for family and friends to meet after
the service. This is a good option for people who want to
have a wake but do not want to have people back at their home.
There are various menu options catering for light snacks to
hot foods depending on the families wishes. Your Funeral Director
will show you the menu options for you to make a choice. Some
venues price per person attending, with some venues having
a set minimum number for each option available. |
Many of the Crematorium Chapels, and quite a few churches have the equipment to play DVD video slideshows during a service. Set to a meaningful piece of music, more and more people are now reflecting on peoples lives this way. We are able to assist you in producing a slideshow, or can produce it for you. We also have video equipment for hire if you are having the service in a venue without these facilities. We may also be able to assist you if you would like a video
recording or audio cassette of the service. |
|
| Military Poppy Services | In recognition of someones service in the military,
we can arrange for the RSL or other service organisation to
conduct a Poppy Service. This involves a suitable person giving
a brief history of the persons military service and the laying
of a symbolic red poppy on the coffin. We then play the Last
Post, recite the Ode and then play Reveille. The coffin is
covered with the Australian Flag during the service. |
| Orders of Service Booklets | Many families like to give those
attending a funeral service a thankyou card, or provide a
booklet with the order of the service and any songs or poems
of significance. Some just provide a small handout with a
few pictures for people to remember with. Many of the churches
produce booklets for the family if the service is at the church.
With modern home computers many family members can now produce
booklets of a high quality then arrange for copies to be made
at places like Officeworks. If you need help with producing
a booklet we can put you in contact with a professional printer
that works closely with us. |
